In this technical guide, Civardi imparts a thorough and intelligent understanding of how to draw the human body. Written with clarity and enthusiasm, and using numerous examples of his own work as teaching aids

I wouldn't recommend this book. Quite basic and not exactly a good sample at that.
Figures are stiff and there's no fluidity whatsoever, (although it is mentioned in theory in 'Rhythm' section of the book) which is an essential part of figure drawing. If you're a beginner, this book might at some parts throw you off since the tips and techniques used here are... well, just mere techniques and basics can be found in any other anatomy book (I'm not talking about "basic" basic books!) but with more

Do yourself a favor and read Bridgman, Loomis, Dorne, Vilppu, and Hogarth instead!

Another run of the mill art book for me. Nothing new here, really. There were some beautiful sketches, but most of the drawings were too blocky to me, and showed no fluidity. It didn't stand out with any new tips for me, either. Another run of the mill art book for me. Nothing new here, really. The language in this book is overly formal and pompous with misuse of terms, typos, lack of explanation, and overall vagueness. While some of that could be due to it being translated from Spanish, it's unlikely to explain all of the problems in this book.

I bought this book years ago and tried to read it, but just felt confused. I thought that was my fault, but years later, with a fine art degree under my belt, I find it is, in fact, not my fault at all. The writing in this book is shoddy, at best. Much of the artwork is a terrible example of how to draw humans. The young adult Caucasian male body is presented as the default body with all bodies compared to it. The examples of proportion are preposterous. The explanations are vague and sketchy (pun intended). It's useless for someone with experience. Anything it might "explain" that you don't already know you could learn elsewhere for less money and mental anguish. It's useless for beginners because it doesn't explain anything well enough for anyone without experience to learn from. If you are looking to learn to draw fellow humans, save yourself the cash and mental strain and get a good book. I'd recommend Loomis or anything along those lines. Or simply google "how to draw humans" and watch some YouTube videos, because you can learn more from one short YouTube video than this entire book.
